As they had closed the restaurant for us  we could all sit together, making it a chatty time.

This was followed by a quiz.

Snow White on Ice

8 members from Winchcombe WI took the bus into Cheltenham for an afternoon out. [Sadly our 94 year old member missed the bus..] First lunch at Jamie's where we found the food was interesting with a varied menu. We were joined by a member living in Cheltenham, then round the corner to the Everyman. The show was a delight, targeted at both children and adults. Wonderful skating on such a small stage.
It was finished in time for a stroll back to Royal Well for the bus back to Winchcombe. A successful day out!

March Meeting

Our numbers are growing as more new members attend our meetings..excellent news!

This month Sallie Dearnley [AKA Sarah as she explained to us], told us how it was to be a volunteer at the the 2012 London Olympics. She was listed as a games maker, but she was a driver for dignitaries and spent most of the time in her car..

We also celebrated Audrey's 94th birthday with a splendid array of cakes provided by Alice and Jenny

Wednesday 4 March 2015

March lunch

The monthly lunch is a popular event with a potential of half the WI members interested. The main bonus is we are supporting the restaurants round Winchcombe while enabling those who can't drive the chance to join in.

So this month saw us back at Lady Jane's Tearooms. Nicky cooks a really good value meal, hot and tasty. There is a main, and pud, juice and tea/coffee for under £10.00..it doesn't get much better than that! We are glad, for us, that it is business as usual for now!

Tuesday 17 February 2015

February's Monthly Meeting

The speaker today was Richard Burton on 'Life at Barrington Hall' It was made more interesting as he was the son of the head gardener living in a cottage on the estate. He had slides to illustrate the talk.

We also had a birthday celebration for Nancie who will be 94 on Friday! There were a lot of delicious cakes..

We had another new member plus 2 visitors and we were almost a full house!

A new experience

This month we decided to try No.5 North Street for our monthly lunch. We were enchanted with it all. After we had ordered little tasty bits were served to keep us interested. Marmite and cheddar on a interesting base, a little pot of soup, a little mackerel hors d'oeuvre  and different breads.

The main course arrived looking like art on a plate! There were 2 choices and most of us opted for the cod, superbly cooked..well the chef does have a Michelin Star..with a sample of several veggies and well seasoned spaghetti.
The desserts were also different with wonderful ice creams.

We were well looked after and made very welcome, all in all a great experience and a new restaurant for our list!
